from Mr. Janetka:
You clicked the link?!? That's great - I'm glad that you are interested in finding out a little more about the course that your child is enrolled in. I keep most of the information for my courses on my class website. The link at the bottom of this page will take you there.
Near the top of each course, you will see a short About the Teacher page and an About the Course page. For a quick overview of myself and the course this is where you want to go. If you want to check out some of the topics the students are learning about, you can browse some of the lesson pages or even go watch some of the many video lessons that I have on YouTube for the students. These videos are good for when students miss class or need to review course content.
A few extra things to mention before you click the link. I am usually at school at 7.45, so this is a great time for students to come in and get help or work on their projects in the computer lab. The lab is also available to students at lunch and after school. Most of the topics we study use software that can be installed at home for free. My courses usually have weekly small assignments that help students practice the course content. I record student grades on the BCMyEd website and update it each weekend. I encourage you to log in and review their progress from time to time. Please contact the school office for assistance if you do not remember your login (students usually know their login which works just as well).
Most of the work students do in my courses involves items that can be shown on a computer, so once and while ask them to load some work up and show you what they have been working on. Hopefully your child enjoys their time in my course this year!
